 Introduction

At LitchardFC, we are committed to providing an inclusive environment where all young people can participate in football regardless of their race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or socioeconomic status. We adhere to all relevant UK legislation to ensure fairness and equality in all our activities.

Aims and Objectives

  • To promote equality and diversity in all our activities.
  • To create an inclusive environment where all participants feel valued and respected.
  • To ensure that no one involved in our activities experiences discrimination or harassment.

Legal Framework

This policy is guided by the following UK legislation:

  • Equality Act 2010: This act protects individuals from discrimination based on protected characteristics, including age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.
  • Children Act 2004: This act ensures that children's welfare is the paramount consideration in all decisions affecting them.
  • Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006: This act establishes a framework to safeguard children and vulnerable adults from harm.

Policy Statements

  • Equality and Diversity: We are committed to promoting equality and diversity in all aspects of our activities. We will not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment, or victimisation.
  • Inclusion: We aim to make our activities accessible to all young people, including those with disabilities. We will make reasonable adjustments to accommodate their needs.
  • Respect and Dignity: All participants, coaches, volunteers, and staff are expected to treat each other with respect and dignity. We promote a culture of respect and inclusion.

Implementation

  • Training: All coaches, volunteers, and staff will receive training on equal opportunities and safeguarding.
  • Recruitment: Our recruitment practices are designed to attract a diverse range of candidates. We ensure that our selection processes are fair and transparent.
  • Participation: We strive to make our activities accessible to all young people by addressing barriers to participation, such as cost, transportation, and facilities.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: We regularly monitor and evaluate our activities to ensure compliance with this policy and to identify areas for improvement.

Reporting and Complaints

We take all complaints about breaches of this policy seriously. Any participant, coach, volunteer, or staff member who feels they have been treated unfairly or have witnessed discrimination should report it to our Safeguarding Officer. We will investigate all complaints promptly and take appropriate action.

Review

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains current and effective. Any updates will be communicated to all participants, coaches, volunteers, and staff.
